“I have been snoozing this reminder to grab my tomatoes out of the fridge for the last half hour.” My coworkers respond with genuine concern and a touch of mockery. “Oh my goodness, go! They’re crying out for you.”
These tomatoes were a beautiful unexpected gift. My dear friend and housemate offered them to me this morning on my way out the door. They are for tonight. Lovely people will be adorning their salads with them but I don’t want to go because I am tired. Yet I will go because I know I need these people. I mentioned before that I have been tired and thirsty for a long time. These people never fail to connect me to The Fountain and make me feel less alone. I need them.
I forgot the tomatoes.
